Dennis Burmeister is a first-year assistant coach with the Bullets baseball team in 2022. Burmeister will work with the catchers and assist the infield coach.
Burmeister brings a wealth of baseball experience and knowledge to Gettysburg. He was a standout second baseman and catcher for Redmond High School in Redmond, Wash., a 4A divisional team and was a two-year first-team all-star. Burmeister was a prospect for the Seattle Mariners in their inaugural season in 1977, however, he had already committed to the military and played independent baseball in Arlington, Va.
When Burmeister left the service to pursue a degree in marketing, he played baseball for Bellevue Community College in Washington state. He also played independent ball in Redmond Washington during the summer. After playing junior college baseball, Burmeister went back into the military and spent 20 years before retiring. After retiring from the military, he then went to work within the federal service and retired as an Army civilian.
Throughout his military and federal service career, Burmeister coached American Legion, Senior Babe Ruth, elite baseball teams, and he was an assistant baseball coach for Linganore High in Maryland. Burmeister also became a certified umpired and umpired high school and collegiate games throughout Virginia and Maryland.
