Andrew Smith will spend his first year at Gettysburg College in 2010 as the team’s defensive line coach.
Smith graduated from Centennial Conference member McDaniel College in 2005 and has spent the past five years as an assistant football coach at various levels. In 2008-09, he spent two years as the offensive and defensive line coach at Washington (Md.) High School.
In 2005-06, Smith worked at Bowling Brook (Md.) Preparatory School, where he was the offensive line coach in 2005 and the offensive coordinator in 2006. He helped the offensive line to its first 1,000-yard rusher in school history in 2005.
At McDaniel, Smith earned a spot on the All-Centennial Conference Second Team as an offensive lineman after helping the Green Terror finish 6-4 (4-2 CC), win a share of the conference title, and lead the league in rushing (232.0 ypg).
Smith earned a degree in psychology at McDaniel and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.
