George O’Brien will begin his second season on the Bullet coaching staff in 2009 as a defensive line coach.
O’Brien spent the 2006 and 2007 seasons as an assistant coach at Hanover (Pa.) H.S., working under current Bullet assistant Denny Garman. He was also an assistant at Biglerville (Pa.) H.S. in 2005 and was an assistant defensive line coach at his alma mater, Clarion University, in the spring of 2003.
A two-time team captain at Clarion in 2001 and 2002, O’Brien helped the Golden Eagles win the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West title in 2000 as a defensive end. He graduated in 2003 with a bachelor of science degree in management with an emphasis in sport management and a minor in athletic coaching.
A native of Abbottstown, Pa., O’Brien also earned a master of science degree in sport management from Slippery Rock University in 2004. He has worked as the Senior Program Director of Sports at the Hanover Area Family YMCA since 2005.
