Former Gettysburg College student-athlete Nick Ulassin ’15 enters his fifth season as an assistant coach with the football team this fall. Ulassin will work with the linebackers once again and will serve as the Special Teams Coordinator this fall.

Prior to his return, Ulassin spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Wingate University and Western New England University. At Wingate, he served as a defensive backs coach while earning his master’s degree in sports management. Ulassin oversaw the performance of the secondary for the Bulldogs and played important roles in scouting opponents and recruiting Division I student-athletes. Wingate went 17-5 overall and won the South Atlantic Conference title in 2017.

Ulassin spent one year as the wings coach at Western New England. He handled the daily practice routines and game day preparations for the wings and served as lead coach for the kickoff and return teams. The Golden Bears went 10-1, won the New England Football Conference championship, and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament during Ulassin’s one-year stint.

Ulassin was a three-year letterwinner for the Bullets, missing his sophomore campaign due to injury. The native of Branchburg, N.J., competed at tailback where he accumulated 782 yards and 11 touchdowns. As a senior, he posted a career high 388 rushing yards and scored six touchdowns. Ulassin was also a key element in the return game and set a program record with 41 kick returns in 2011. He tallied 840 kick return yards that year and capped his career with 1,972 all-purpose yards.

During Ulassin’s tenure, Gettysburg went 22-18 with three winning campaigns. The Bullets closed out his senior season by defeating both Dickinson College and Franklin and Marshall College to seize the Little Brown Bucket and Lincoln Trophy, respectively.

Ulassin graduated from Gettysburg with a degree in English. He is a graduate of Somerville High School where he earned varsity letters in track, football, golf, and baseball. He was an All-State, All-Area, All-County, and All-Conference selection on the gridiron.
