Adrian Macdonald, a 2010 Gettysburg College graduate and former distance-running standout, in 2010 enters his first season as an assistant coach for the Gettysburg College cross country teams.

Macdonald is coming off an outstanding senior year of cross country and track & field. During the fall, Macdonald was one of the Bullets top-five finishers in each of his races and was Gettysburg’s No. 1 runner at the Centennial Conference Championships, where he finished 19th. He was also second on the team at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional, placing 39th among 314 runners. Earlier in the season, Macdonald clocked the best time of his collegiate career with a 26:05 at the Paul Short Run.

A middle-distance specialist in track, Macdonald capped his career with an impressive senior year on the oval. Indoors, he broke a 33-year-old school record in the mile, clocking a NCAA provisional-qualifying time of 4:12.78. He finished as the Centennial Conference runner-up in the same event indoors while placing eighth in the 800-meter run.

On the outdoor circuit, Macdonald recorded another NCAA provisional-qualifying mark, this time in the 1,500-meter run (3:54.23). At the Centennial Conference Championships, he placed third in the 1,500 and the 800 while running on the winning 4x800-meter relay team that set both school and conference records with a time of 7:43.42.
