Dave Urick, who served as a head coach a combined 33 years at Hobart College and Georgetown University and is a member of the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame, enters his third season as a volunteer assistant coach at Gettysburg College in 2015-16.
From 1980-89 Urick was the head coach at Hobart College, where he guided the Statesmen to 10 consecutive NCAA Division III national titles while amassing a record of 122-30. He is one of just four coaches in the history of the NCAA to win 10 straight national titles.
He moved on to Georgetown in 1990 and steered the Hoyas to a record of 223-99 and 11 NCAA Tournament appearances, including a berth in the semifinals in 1999. He retired from Georgetown following the 2012 season.
With a career head-coaching record of 345-129, Urick ranks seventh all-time in victories in NCAA men’s lacrosse history (all divisions).
Before becoming the head coach at Hobart, Urick served as an assistant coach for the Statesmen for eight seasons, when current Gettysburg head coach Hank Janczyk played for Hobart and helped the team win a national title in 1976. Janczyk later served as an assistant coach on Urick’s staff at Hobart from 1980-81.
