Shawn Runyon

Shawn Runyon enters his second season as an assistant men's lacrosse coach at Gettysburg College in 2017.

In his first year, Runyon helped the Bullets claim their second- straight Centennial Conference title. Gettysburg advanced to the NCAA Division III Championship semifinals and finished with a record of 17-3. Six Bullets were named All-Americans and seven claimed all-conference status. 

A 2011 graduate of Springfield College, Runyon comes to Gettysburg from Frostburg State University, where he spent the last two seasons working as an assistant coach as the team’s offensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator. He also coordinated man-down defense and face-offs while assisting with goalies.
 
Runyon, who will also serve as an assistant in the Office of Athletic Communications, helped the Bobcats finish 16-3 last season and earn an appearance in the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) championship game along with a No. 17 national ranking in the USILA Division III Coaches Poll. He coached eight All-CAC selections, including five first-team picks.
 
Runyon also helped Frostburg finish 14-6 and finish as the CAC and ECAC runner-up in 2014.
 
Before arriving at Frostburg, Runyon worked for two years as an assistant coach at Springfield in 2012 and 2013. He served as the offensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator while overseeing rides, clears, and face-offs. He helped the Pride win the 2012 Pilgrim League title while finishing 14-4 and earning a No. 12 national ranking.
 
Runyon has picked up additional experience working for the Blue Chip 225 Lacrosse Camp at Bryant University, the Southern States Elite Lacrosse Camp at Washington College, the Peak 200 Lacrosse Camp at Springfield, and the Northern Select Lacrosse Camp at RIT.
 
As a student-athlete, Runyon was a two-time All-Pilgrim League selection at Springfield. A midfielder, he helped the Pride capture four-straight Pilgrim League titles and finished with over 100 career points. As a senior, he served as a team captain, earned USILA Honorable Mention All-America recognition, and was a USILA North-South All-Star game participant.
 
Runyon earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Springfield in Movement and Sport Studies.
