Ali Flores enters her sixth year as a head coach at Gettysburg in 2022-23. Flores has coached the women’s tennis program in each of her first five years and has coached the men’s team over the last four campaigns.
A former standout on the court for the Bullets, Flores has ingrained her own passion for the sport and the institution in developing both programs into contenders in the highly-competitive Centennial Conference. She guided the women’s team to an overall record of 12-8 and its first appearance in the Centennial Conference Championship in 2018-19. The Bullets scored their first postseason victory with a 5-4 win over Franklin & Marshall College in the opening round. Flores was named CC Coach of the Year and saw three of her players honored on the all-conference team.
During the shortened 2021 season, Flores saw first-years
Alex Kagan ’24 and
Michael Zayneh ’24 capture all-conference honors. Kagan was the first men’s tennis all-conference singles player from Gettysburg since 2013, while Kagan and Zayneh were the first all-conference Bullets’ double team to receive the recognition since 2012.
In her first year at the helm, Flores guided a young women’s team to a 5-11 overall record. The Bullets went 4-6 in the highly competitive Centennial Conference and faced five regionally-ranked programs. Flores took over the reins of the men’s program in 2018-19 and led the squad to a 6-12 record. The men opened the year by winning five of their first six matches. Her 2021-22 men's squad recorded eight wins for the highest single-season wins total since 2011.
No stranger at Gettysburg, Flores served as a part-time assistant men’s and women’s tennis coach for the Bullets in 2011 and 2015. She was also a four-year member of the Gettysburg women’s tennis team, finishing her career with a combined singles and doubles record of 72-55. She ranks third in school history in doubles victories (37) and is tied for ninth in singles wins (35).
Flores has gained additional coaching experience as the head girl’s tennis coach at West York (Pa.) High School from 2013-15 and the head cross country and girl’s basketball coach at Connally (Texas) Junior High School in 2009-10. She also taught health and physical education at both schools.
A Gettysburg, Pa. native, Flores received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education from Gettysburg in 2008 and a Master of Science in Education degree in Sport Pedagogy from Baylor University in 2009.
