AT GETTYSBURG

Davis enters his 11th season as head coach of the women’s basketball program in 2025-26. Under his guidance, Gettysburg has claimed a conference title and advanced to the NCAA Division III Championship with both the women's basketball and men's golf programs.

Davis sports a 286-99 (.743) record in 15 years as a head basketball coach, including 207-47 (.815) in 10 campaigns at Gettysburg. The Bullets have finished first or second in the Centennial Conference (CC) in each of the last eight seasons and have competed in the NCAA Division III Tournament seven consecutive seasons, marking the longest streak in program history. Additionally, Gettysburg has won at least 20 games in eight consecutive campaigns.

After having the 2020-21 season canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Davis returned his squad to top form, posting a 19-1 mark in CC play to earn the top seed in the conference tournament. The Bullets won their second conference title under Davis on their home court and advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament. He garnered CC Coach of the Year honors for the second time after the season. His team led Division III in field-goal percentage defense (.284) and finished in the top five nationally in blocked shots and scoring defense.

A year later, Davis and his Bullets made it back-to-back crowns for the first time in program history. The No. 2 seed in the tournament, Gettysburg toppled Washington 70-40 on its home court in the semifinals before winning its first road title under Davis with a 65-52 victory at top-seeded Johns Hopkins to claim the 10th NCAA appearance in program history.

The 2023-24 season saw a similar road for Davis and the Bullets. Gettysburg went 19-1 in conference play but lost a coin flip for the top seed but once again claimed a title on the road, defeating Johns Hopkins 64-55 to become just the second team in the history of the conference to win three straight titles.

The 2024-25 season followed a similar script. In the new unbalanced schedule, Gettysburg went 13-1 in conference play but once again lost the coin flip for the top seed and were forced on the road in Baltimore for the championship game. A fourth-quarter rally and overtime victory gave the Bullets a fourth straight title, becoming the first women’s basketball team in conference history to accomplish that feat. Gettysburg was rewarded with home games the first weekend of the NCAA tournament and advanced to the second weekend, where the Orange and Blue also hosted. The Bullets advanced to the national quarterfinals for the first time in program history, falling to eventual national champions and top-ranked NYU. Gettysburg finished the season with a program record 28 victories that included three separate winning streaks of no fewer than nine games.

During the 2019-20 season, Gettysburg matched the conference record and establish a new program standard by winning 19 consecutive games. The Bullets finished 22-6 overall, including 17-3 in league play. After finishing runner-up to Haverford in the CC Championship, Gettysburg marched off to the NCAA playoffs for the third year in a row. The Bullets ranked as high as No. 16 in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division III Poll. The Orange and Blue finished as the most accurate team from beyond the arc in the country, knocking down 38.1 percent of its three-point attempts for the year.

Gettysburg also went 22-6 in 2018-19. The team hosted the CC Championship for the second consecutive year after going 18-2 in league play. The Bullets finished conference runner-up and went on to host the first two rounds of the NCAA playoffs, marking the first national tournament women’s basketball games held in Bream Gym.

Davis led Gettysburg to one of the greatest campaigns in program history in 2017-18. The Bullets broke the program record for wins (26), captured the Centennial Conference title, and advanced to the NCAA Division III Championship second round. The team won 16 consecutive games and posted a 19-1 mark in league competition. Davis was named the CC Coach of the Year and mentored one All-American, two all-region selections, and three all-conference picks.

In 2016-17, the Bullets finished 20-8 overall, including 14-6 in the Centennial Conference. After knocking off top seed Haverford College, Gettysburg finished runner-up in the league tournament. Davis coached a pair of first-team all-conference performers with Emily Gibbons ’18 also being named CC Player of the Year. Gibbons was tagged D3hoops.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region First Team and became the first D3hoops.com All-American in program history.

Davis recorded a strong debut season for the Orange and Blue, guiding the team to a 19-6 overall record and a 13-5 mark in the Centennial Conference. Gettysburg earned a bid to the conference playoffs and finished among the national leaders in several statistical categories, including field-goal percentage defense (11th), blocked shots per game (14th), and assist-to-turnover ratio (17th). Three Bullets were named All-Centennial Conference and Emma Dorshimer ’19 was tabbed Rookie of the Year.

In his 10 seasons at the helm of the women’s basketball program, Davis’s student-athletes have received six All-America awards, an Academic All-America, 10 all-region selections, numerous academic all-district honors, 24 all-conference honors, five CC Player of the Year nods, a CC Defensive Player of the Year honor, a CC Scholar Athlete of the Year, and two CC Rookie of the Year selections.

PRIOR TO GETTYSBURG

Prior to Gettysburg, Davis guided the women’s hoops program at Eastern, where he posted a record of 79-52 and twice was named Freedom Conference Coach of the Year (2012, 2015). In 2014-15, Davis guided the Eagles to a school-record 22 wins and the program’s first-ever trip to the NCAA Division III Championship. Eastern defeated unbeaten and No. 1 FDU-Florham 88-87 in overtime during the regular season and capped the season ranked 24th in the D3hoops.com poll. Davis was named the Atlantic Region Coach of the Year by D3hoops for his efforts.

Davis coached 11 all-conference performers, five all-region selections, and three All-America selections during his time as the head women’s basketball coach at Eastern. The Eagles won at least 14 games in four of his five seasons at the helm, equaling the number of 14-win seasons in the program’s first four decades prior to his arrival.
In addition to his basketball duties, Davis served as the first head coach of the women’s golf program from 2011-13. In 2013, he was named the Middle Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year.

Prior to Eastern, Davis was the assistant men’s basketball coach at the University of South Carolina Aiken from 2005-10. He was also an assistant coach at Mansfield University from 2000-05.
