Overton joined the Bullets as the department's first full-time strength and conditioning coach in October 2024 with nearly a decade of strength and conditioning experience, including spending the last year as the head strength and conditioning coach at Virginia State University.
Named the head strength and conditioning coach at Virginia State in August 2023, Overton worked to establish a pipeline of internal interns for academic credit as well as pursing multiple sources of grant funding to expand the staff. He established a training plan for multiple first-year programs and updated and improved policies and procedures for the strength and conditioning department. He also developed a plan for a fueling station for Trojan athletes.
Prior to that, he spent time as the Director of Performance at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology that included overseeing strength and conditioning for football and women’s basketball. He was also the director of strength and conditioning at D’Youville, programming for all 15 varsity programs and assisted with the design of a new athlete-only weight room.
Overton also spent time at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, UNC-Wilmington, Buffalo and Cincinnati in the strength and conditioning departments of each institution. He was IUP’s first full-time strength and conditioning coach and served as the head strength and conditioning coach for no fewer than eight programs at Wilmington.
Prior to his full-time roles, Overton served as interns at Louisiana-Lafayette, Kentucky, Montana and Robert Morris.
Overton played football at the collegiate level for the Mount Union, competing as a defensive back for the Raiders.
He earned his bachelor of science in exercise science with a minor in health at Mount Union in 2012. He earned a master of science in sport management from Florida in 2019 and began work on his doctorate of education in kinesiology through UNC-Greensboro in August.
