Darryl Jones

Jones enters his 39th season as a volunteer assistant with the Bullet track and field teams in 2023-24. He works primarily with sprints, hurdles, and relays.

Since arriving in Gettysburg in the mid 80s, Jones has witnessed some of the greatest achievements in the long history of the track program. He coached national champion Arif Husain '93, who represented Pakistan in the 1992 Olympics, and oversaw the development of four-time All-American Stacy Spencer '95.

More recently, Jones coached All-American Katie Cavanaugh '16, who is the only Bullet to earn national accolades indoors and outdoors in the hurdles. Nearly every sprint, hurdle, and relay record for the women's program has been achieved under his watchful eye.

Jones retired in 2022 as a Senior Associate Director of Admissions at Gettysburg.

Before coming to Gettysburg, Jones spent four years as a jump and sprint specialist at Penn State University. He is a 1985 graduate of Penn State where he majored in biology and psychology. Jones competed on the track and field team and was a member of the Marching Blue Band for two years.
