AT GETTYSBURG
Frank enters his 17th season with the Gettysburg wrestling program and his fourth as head coach in 2023-24. In the first 16 seasons with Frank on staff, the Bullets have produced 12 NCAA qualifiers, four All-Americans, 10 conference champions, and 23 Scholar All-Americans.
In his first season leading the way in the corner, he coached five placewinners for the Bullets at the conference championship as well as three regional medalists and three Scholar All-Americans. He also mentored the Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year (Luke Kowalski) and the championship's Most Outstanding Wrestler in Eric Mougalian.
Last season brought similar success for Frank and his Bullets. Gettysburg placed seven in the top four at the conference championship, including Luke Kowalski’s crown at 133 that earned him Most Outstanding Performer honors. Kowalski went on to first third at the regional meet and seventh at the national championship to become the program’s first All-American since 2016 and first under 157 pounds in 44 years.
PRIOR TO GETTYSBURG
Frank brings a wealth of coaching experience to Gettysburg, having been an assistant and head coach at several levels of the profession.
Frank served as the head coach of the Pennsylvania National Greco-Roman Team from 2006–08 leading the team to back-to-back national championships in 2007 & 2008. From 2009 to 2012, he joined the Minnesota Storm coaching staff and served as a coach for their Junior National Greco-Roman team which finished third nationally all four years. In 2013, Frank began coaching with the New York National Greco-Roman Team until 2018. During his tenure with Team New York, they recorded a fourth place finish with three national champions at the 2014 USA Wrestling National Championships in Fargo, North Dakota.
Frank made his return to the Pennsylvania National Team in 2019 as the head Junior Greco-Roman coach. In his first year back, the team climbed 14 places from its 2018, 18th place to finish fourth place with nine All-Americans. Frank has also led Pennsylvania to the 14U Girls National Duals championships in both freestyle and Greco-Roman. In 2021, he served as the co-head coach of the U16 Greco-Roman national team champions and was an assistant in 2020 and 2021 for the U16 freestyle national champions.
Frank, a USA Wrestling Silver Certified Coach, is the founder and head coach of the Modern Day Gladiators wrestling club in Central Pennsylvania. Since its inception in 2009, the club has produced 46 Greco-Roman, Freestyle, and Women’s Freestyle All-Americans, 65 Northeast Regional Medalists, 5 Greco-Roman World Team Trials Qualifiers, 5 Olympic Training Center invitees, and three Pan-Am games gold medalists. Prior to establishing the Modern Day Gladiator Club, Frank coached with the Icebreakers Wrestling club, producing seven All-Americans and 11 Northeast Regional medalists.
PLAYING DAYS
Frank is a 1995 graduate of Bucknell University where he double majored in history and geography. Prior to being sidelined due to injury early his career, Frank won silver medals at both the Greco-Roman and Freestyle Pennsylvania Open Championships. He later earned a varsity letter as a student assistant coach for Bucknell.
An accomplished wrestler, Frank won a silver medal at the U.S. Master’s Greco-Roman National Championships in Las Vegas. He pinned each of his three opponents en route to earning Master’s division All-American status. Frank also competed at the NYAC International Greco-Roman Tournament and was inducted into the Mid-Western Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Hall of Fame in 2006.
