Luke Stillson

Stillson is his fourth year leading athletics communications after rejoining the Gettysburg staff in the summer of 2022. He spent the last 16 years as the Director of Athletics Communications at Centennial Conference-foe McDaniel..

Stillson is responsible for all aspects of publicity and media relations for the Bullets' 24 varsity athletic teams. In his first year in the director's chair at Gettysburg, he established a social media strategy that aided in the growth of each of the sport-specific Instagram accounts between 12 and 122 percent. He also expanded the Bullets' live video streams to feature multiple-camera productions.

For the previous 16 years, Stillson was instrumental in uplifting the accomplishments of student-athletes and staff members at McDaniel. He has been solely responsible for publicity and marketing for the Green Terror's 24-sports varsity program. During that time he has covered 10 Centennial Conference championship teams, 16 All-Americans, 16 Centennial Conference Players of the Year, 22 individual conference champions, and eight Academic All-Americans. He led McDaniel into the digital age, establishing the department's social media presence and ushering in live video streaming through partnerships with Stretch Internet and BlueFrame Technology. He has also served key roles within the athletic administration and submitted his expertise and insight into a range of institutional projects, including upgrades to Kenneth M. Gill Stadium in 2012.

Prior to his arrival on the Hill, Stillson served as the Interim Director of Sports Information for Division II Millersville in 2006. While there, he served as the main media contact for the department’s 21 varsity sports that included Division I wrestling.

No stranger to the Gettysburg, Stillson began his post-graduate sports information work as an intern at Gettysburg from 2003-05, where he was the primary contact for 11 of the Bullets’ 24 varsity teams, including volleyball. In his second season working with that team, Gettysburg hosted the 2004 NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional, which Stillson coordinated all aspects of sports information for the three-day, six-team tournament.

At McDaniel, he produced numerous publications that have been honored in CoSIDA’s annual publication contest, including best cover for the 2008-09 women’s basketball media guide.

Active in the Eastern Athletics Communications Assocation (EAST-COMM), Stillson served as the Director of Online Services for the organization from 2008-11 before being elevated to the executive board as at-large representative. As part of his duties within his former position, he was responsible for maintaining and updating the organization’s website, ecacsida.org. He oversaw the movement of workshop evaluation forms and the Hometown Handbook into an exclusively digital format. He is also a part of the charities committee that runs a charity raffle at the annual workshop, where the organization consistently raises more than $2,000 in an hour to help charities in the local area of the workshop.

Stillson’s role on the Executive Board was elevated prior to the 2013-14 academic year, moving into the presidential rotation as 2nd Vice President. He served as the organization’s President in 2015-16 and Past President in 2016-17. He also served as the co-host of the 2022 professional development workshop at Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City, Md.

He has also served as chair of the Centennial Conference Athletic Communication Directors committee since 2014.

A 2003 graduate of SUNY Oneonta, Stillson graduated with a dual degree in English and Secondary Education. While at Oneonta, he got his start in the business, working closely with Sports Information Director Geoff Hassard, 2012-13 ECAC-SIDA President, in all aspects of the profession.
