He earned his Master of Science in Athletic Training from James Madison University in May. During his time at JMU, he gained clinical experience in a variety of settings, including with the Dukes’ track & field, women's soccer, swimming and diving, and football teams. His graduate research focused on assessing ankle strength in individuals with chronic ankle instability using a pull-based dynamometer.

While in Harrisonburg, Farinelli implemented ankle strength testing for post-surgical JMU athletes using pull-based dynamometry.

He also has his safeTALK certification for suicide prevention training.

Farinelli also completed his undergraduate work at James Madison, earning a bachelor of science in health sciences with a minor in pre-athletic training.
