AT GETTYSBURG

Green enters his first season as head coach of the football program in 2026.

PRIOR TO GETTYSBURG

A Hobart alumnus, he has coached at his alma mater since graduating in 2014. An offensive lineman during his playing days, he mentored that group until 2021 before taking control of the defense.

In his five seasons in charge of the Statesmen defense, he mentored 28 All-Liberty League selections, four all-region players, three All-Americans and two Liberty League Defensive Players of the Year. In each of the last two seasons, his unit has paced the Liberty League in total defense. His 2025 group allowed just 271.9 yards per game, which ranked 30th in Division III, and surrendered 17 or fewer points in seven of the team’s 11 games.

His 2024 defense was statistically one of the best in the 131-year history of Hobart football. Green’s defense ranked in the top 25 nationally in seven statistical categories, including fourth in scoring defense (11.4 ppg) and sixth in defensive touchdowns (4). The defense set a Statesmen single-season record for fewest yards per completion allowed (9.5), yielded just five rushing touchdowns and gave up a scant 125 points on the season – the fewest since 2000. His defense produced eight all-conference honorees, including five linebackers.

In precursor to that standout season, the Statesmen finished in the top 25 in Division III in pass efficiency defense (10th), defensive touchdowns (12th), scoring defense (14th) and passing yards allowed (25th). Hobart led the Liberty League in defensive touchdowns, fumbles recovered and sacks while ranking second in total defense, scoring defense, and pass efficiency defense. That came a year after Green built the No. 1 red-zone defense in the nation (48 percent), and the 18th-ranked defense in opponent fourth-down conversion. The Statesmen defense held three teams to single digits, including a shutout against St. John Fisher.

In his first season on the defensive side, he helped build a defensive unit that ranked in the top 20 pass efficiency defense, scoring defense, pass defense, opponent third down conversion and total defense. The 2021 Statesmen posted a pair of shutouts and held three other opponents to single digits.

After a successful first season as a part-time assistant coach, Green was promoted to full time in March of 2015, spending the next six seasons as Hobart’s offensive line coach. He oversaw the development of 18 all-conference linemen. He also spent three seasons as the team’s academic success coordinator, guiding 52 Statesmen to the Liberty League All-Academic Team as well as eight Academic All-District honorees.

In his first season on the sideline in 2014, Green helped coach two All-Americans on the offensive line, including Ali Marpet. The first lineman to be voted the Liberty League Offensive Player of the Year, he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the second round, starting at left guard in the Bucs’ Super Bowl LV Championship. Hobart ranked sixth in the nation in fewest sacks allowed and fewest tackles for loss allowed that season.

In 2017, Green developed four All-Liberty League linemen, including a pair of first-team selections. Behind their blocking, Hobart led the Liberty League in total offense, passing offense, sacks allowed, first downs and third down percentage.

In Green’s 15 seasons with Hobart, the Statesmen had a winning season each year. His Hobart teams went 34-8 in his four years as a player with three Liberty League championships and three straight NCAA appearances that included a trip to the national quarterfinals in 2012.

OFF THE FIELD

Since his playing days, he has trained and competed in two Ironman 70.3 races and two half-marathons. He has also served as a presenter and several clinics and assisted with Hobart’s social media and coordinated several football alumni events.

PLAYING DAYS

A native of Belleair Beach, Fla., he was a two-year starter at center, earning high marks on the field and in the classroom. He helped the 2013 Statesmen rank first in the Liberty League in scoring offense and second in total offense on his way to third-team All-America honors from D3football.com. A two-time Academic All-American, Green earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics.
