Shannon begins his fifth season as an assistant men's and women's track and field coach at Gettysburg. Shannon oversees the Bullets’ pole vaulters.
In his time with the Bullets, Shannon has led all of his vaulters onto the program's top-10 lists, and three of the top five women all-time, highlighted by Bethany Rolley breaking the outdoor program record in her debut campaign, clearing 3.26 meters.

Shannon, a certified strength and conditioning specialist vis NSCA, received his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from George Mason University in Virginia. He will also graduate from Messiah in 2025 with a doctoral degree in physical therapy, with a specialization in athletic populations.Â

Outside of Gettysburg, Shannon is in his 10th year coaching vaulters at the high school level, having involvement with many local schools and clubs. Between time spent in Virginia and Pennsylvania, Shannon has coached one national champion, three state champions, four All-Americans, and dozens of state and national qualifiers. His guidance has led to countless school, state, and national records in the event.Â

Born and raised in Adams County, Shannon was a student and pole vaulter at Bermudian Springs High School.
