Rusty Barrick

Barrick enters his third year as an assistant on the Gettysburg staff.

In his first season, he helped coach five placewinners for the Bullets at the conference championship as well as three regional medalists and three Scholar All-Americans. He also was part of the staff that mentored the Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year (Luke Kowalski) and the championship's Most Outstanding Wrestler in Eric Mougalian.  A year later, he helped Kowalski to Most Outstanding Wrestler honors and a trip to the national championship, where he garnered All-America honors.

Barrick previously coached at Cumberland Valley High School under Dave Heckard from 2017-2021. During that time he helped coach 10 PIAA state qualifiers and five place winners including one state champion. In addition, he coached one student-athlete at the Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic where he was victorious for Team Pennsylvania in their win over Team USA.

Barrick attended Bucknell University and was a two-year team captain. The Bison took back-to-back third place finishes at the 2015 and 2016 EIWA championships. A 2015 Cliff Keen Las Vegas tournament place winner, Barrick also placed fourth at 2016 EIWA championships and earned an automatic qualification to NCAA tournament at Madison Square Garden. He was a member of the EIWA all-academic team in 2016.

In high school, Barrick wrestled for his father, Roger Barrick, at Mechanicsburg High School and was teammates with Gettysburg College All-American Zach Thomson.  In 2012, he helped the team take second in District III and fourth at PIAA team states. A 2011 Beast of the East place winner, Barrick was a three-time Pennsylvania state qualifier and a state finalist in 2012. He holds the career wins record at Mechanicsburg.

Barrick, who was never pinned in high school or college, married his wife Amy this past May.
