Thomson earned a spot in the NCAA Division III Wrestling Tournament for the second year in a row after winning the 174-pound title at the NCAA Division III East Regional, which was hosted by Gettysburg. He opened the tournament with 11-0 major decision and 9-0 majority decision victories before earning a 3-0 win in the semifinals. In the championship bout, he defeated The College of New Jersey's Zach Zotollo by major decision, 9-0, to improve to 31-2 on the season.
