DeMartino opened his collegiate career with a pair of outstanding performances during the Bullets spring break trip to Florida. In his Gettysburg debut, he spun a three-hit shutout while striking out eight over seven innings in a 7-0 victory over Rockford. He also worked into the 10th inning in Gettysburg's 5-3 loss to Wisconsin Lutheran. After allowing three runs in the first inning, he blanked the Warriors over the next eight innings, retiring 18 in a row at one point, before yielding two runs (one earned) in the 10th. For the game, he worked 9 2/3 innings, scattering nine hits while striking out 10 without a walk. For the week, he finished 1-1 with a 2.16 ERA, 18 strikeouts, and just one walk over 16 2/3 innings.
