ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Will Hohman (Landesberg,
PA/St. Marks) scored the game-winning goal in overtime
to lead Gettysburg past Elizabethtown 2-1 in non-conference
men’s soccer action on Friday.
Hohman found the net from a Mike Bevilacqua
(Marshfield, MA/Thayer Acad.) assist with 6:15 remaining
in overtime to give the Bullets (3-0) a 2-1 win over the Blue
Jays (0-3).
For Elizabethtown, Charlie Haines
found the net on a pass from Steve Custer to
tie the game 1-1 with 13:40 left in the second half, forcing
the match into overtime.
Michael Garea (Maplewood, NJ/Columbia)
netted an unassisted goal to open the match for a 1-0 Gettysburg
lead with 35:46 remaining in the first half.
Steve Kopp (Upper Montclair, NJ/Montclair)
made 11 saves on the afternoon for the Bullets while the Blue
Jays’ Edwin Tichenor posted eight saves for
the home squad.
Elizabethtown outshot Gettysburg 18-10
for the game while each team posted six corner kicks.
The Bullets return to action on Saturday,
Sept. 8 against Skidmore at the Elizabethtown Blue Jay Classic.
