GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Playing its third home game of the week, the Gettysburg College women's basketball team polished off a perfect home-stand with a 64-45 Centennial Conference victory over visiting Haverford College in Bream Gymnasium. The victory also marked the 250th of Bullet head coach Mike Kirkpatrick's 19-year career.

Kirkpatrick, the program's all-time winningest coach, is the third conference head coach to cross the 250-win plateau, joining McDaniel College's Becky Martin (397-254) and of Johns Hopkins University's Nancy Funk (508-263). The Bullet head coach now owns a career record of 250-205 (.549 win percentage), all with the Orange & Blue.

The victory did not come easy for Gettysburg (11-6, 7-3 CC) as Haverford (3-13, 0-10 CC) came out strong to open the game and held an 8-5 lead at 16:41 following a three-pointer by Sara Cram. Despite the slow start, the Bullets kept their composure and took the lead for the first time at 14:09 as freshman Caitlin Moser (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) converted a three-point play, putting the hosts up 10-8. The Fords tied the game once again at 10-10, but Gettysburg ended the opening half on a huge run, out-scoring the visitors 26-6 to take a 20-point lead (36-16) into the break.

Haverford was down, but far from out in the contest as Kathleen Abels, Cram, and Brittany Lattisaw combined to score 10 consecutive points for the visitors, slicing the deficit in half in just four minutes of second-half play. Sophomore Allie Drechsler (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) stemmed the tied with a steal and fast-break lay-up to put the Bullets up 38-26 at 15:30, but Haverford came right back with 5-0 spurt to pull to within seven points (38-31) with 12:51 left to play.

Gettysburg responded with seven straight points, capped by a three-pointer by Courtney Fields (Baltimore, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) that made it 47-31, and following a three-point play by Kathleen Abels, the hosts went on an 8-0 run to take a 21-point lead (55-34) with 7:31 remaining. The Fords did not have the reserves available to make another push and the Bullet subs held the advantage down the stretch.

Three players hit for double figures for Gettysburg, led by Fields and Moser with 13 points each. Fields finished 5-of-9 from the field with four rebounds and a team-high five steals, while Moser was 5-of-12 from the floor, adding a team-high eight boards. Drechsler also notched double figures with 10 points, adding four rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

Sophomore Nicole Dobranski (Albertson, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) added eight points and four rebounds for the hosts. Freshman Mary Spicer (Floral Park, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) came off the Bullet bench to tally six points, four rebounds, and a pair of steals.

Haverford was led by Abels with 12 points and three assists, while Lattisaw notched a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Gettysburg returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 30, with a key Centennial Conference road trip to McDaniel College (9-8, 7-3 CC). The Bullets and Green Terror, who are currently tied for fourth in the conference standings, square off at 6 p.m., followed by the men's game at 8 p.m.
