GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The fourth-ranked Gettysburg College women's lacrosse team kept its undefeated Centennial Conference intact with a 13-6 victory over Ursinus College on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Clark Field. With the victory, the Bullets set up a meeting with unbeaten and defending national champion Franklin & Marshall College next weekend for the right to host the 2008 conference tournament.
Seniors
Megan Moore (Chestertown, Md./Gunston Day School) and
Krissy Browning (Baldwin, Md./Fallston) and sophomore
Lexie Hearn (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) each tallied three goals on the afternoon for Gettysburg (15-1, 8-0 CC). Moore added a pair of assists and a five ground balls, while senior
Jamie Giffuni (St. James, N.Y./Smithtown) tacked on a goal and a pair of helpers.
The Bullets jumped out to a 4-0 lead just under seven minutes in as Moore assisted on two scores, including the first of back-to-back goals by Browning. Hannah Kuranz halted the run temporarily with a goal for Ursinus (6-8, 3-3 CC) at 18:50, but Gettysburg rattled off three more goals to take a 7-1 advantage at 12:38. Kuranz picked up the final goal of the half at 11 minutes to cut the deficit to 7-2.
In the final period, the two teams exchanged goals in the opening 18 minutes to maintain a five-goal differential at 10-5. Kaitlin Glenn connected on the second of back-to-back Bear goals at 4:15 to pull to within 10-6, but Gettysburg left no doubt to the game's outcome with three goals to polish of the game, including a free position score by Moore with 24 ticks left.

Katie Ceglarski (Darien, Conn./Darien) and sophomore
Nina Emala (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) each contributed a goal and an assist in the victory, while sophomore
Hollis Stahl (Highstown, N.J./Peddie School) posted a goal, four ground balls, and four caused turnovers. Emala, Giffuni, and senior
Kara Tammany (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) each recorded a pair of caused turnovers.
Ursinus was led offensively by Kuranz and Lisa Clark with two goals apiece. Elizabeth Cannon added one goal and two helpers, while Glenn posted one score, one assist, and three draw controls.
Gettysburg had plenty of opportunities to score in the game, out-shooting the visitors 46-18, but Ursinus goalie Allyson Shicora played an outstanding goal in between the pipes with 22 saves and five ground balls. Shicora made 18 stops in a 10-9 loss to the Bullets one year ago.
Sophomore goalie
Kristen Krammer (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) went the distance for Gettysburg, making five saves and causing one turnover.
The Bullets have the next week off from competition before hosting No. 3 Franklin & Marshall next Saturday, April 12, at 1 p.m. The Diplomats ended Gettysburg's five-year reign atop the Centennial Conference with victories during the regular season (9-3) and in the conference tournament title game (14-4). Franklin & Marshall also defeated the Bullets in the NCAA Division III Tournament semifinals 13-7 en route to the national title.
