Field Hockey Falls to Top-Ranked Messiah, 4-0

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Junior Kourtney Ehly notched a hat trick, scoring three goals to lead top-ranked Messiah College to a 4-0 victory over No. 15 Gettysburg in non-conference field hockey action Tuesday afternoon at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium.

The Falcons (12-0), who outshot the Bullets 26-3, scored two goals in each half. Messiah also held an 8-3 advantage in corners.

Ehly scored both of her team's goals in the opening period. She tipped in a shot from the top with 7:50 left in the opening stanza, then struck again with 2:21 showing, scoring in front of the cage to make it 2-0. Natalie Ziegler assisted on both goals.

Julie Barton posted an unassisted tally with 9:58 left in the game before Ehly punched in her final goal with 8:50 to go.

Senior Christina Anderson (Dunkirk, Md./Calverton School) made six saves between the pipes for Gettysburg (9-4).

The Bullets return to the field on Friday, when they host Washington (Md.) College at 3 p.m. in a Centennial Conference match-up during Homecoming weekend.
