Field Hockey Blanked By No. 4 Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus received seven goals from six different players and the fourth-ranked Bears won their sixth straight game, defeating No. 14 Gettysburg 7-0 Saturday afternoon.

The Bears (9-2, 3-0 CC), who are 8-1 in their last nine games, jumped to a 5-0 halftime lead and out-shot Gettysburg 40-6 for the game. The Bullets were shut out for the first time this season.

Senior goalie Christina Anderson (Dunkirk, Md./Calverton School) finished one save shy of her career-high for Gettysburg (7-3, 2-2 CC), finishing with 13 stops.

Jen Hooven led Ursinus with two goals and one assist while Michelle Wimmer had one goal and two helpers. Erica Scott made one save in 49:51 of action to pick up the win in goal.

Gettysburg returns to action on Wednesday, when they visit Elizabethtown College at 4:30 p.m. in a non-conference outing.
