Box Score

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Muhlenberg scored twice over the opening 17:41 and the host Mules hung on the rest of the way, downing Gettysburg 2-1 in a Centennial Conference women's soccer match and the Bullets season finale Saturday evening.

Gettysburg closes out the year with a record of 9-7-1, the team's highest win total since 2006. The Bullets also went 4-5-1 Centennial Conference play to finish sixth.

Muhlenberg (12-5, 9-1 CC) tied for first in the Centennial Conference and earned the top seed in the upcoming conference tournament.

The Mules struck first in the ninth minute, when Alyssa Meola punched in her first goal of the season. Meghan O'Grady added her eighth tally of the year in the 18th minute to double Muhlenberg's advantage.

Gettysburg cut the deficit in half when senior Tara Gaston (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) scored in the 35th minute, posting her fifth goal of the year. Freshman Suzy Englot (Fayetteville, N.Y./Manlius Pebble Hill) set up the play with a pass into the middle of the box, and a wide-open Gaston buried the shot into left corner of the net.

The Bullets nearly tied it the second half, but a shot from freshman Casey Attanasio (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) in the 64th minute hit the post. Freshman Mackenzie Cobb (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey) and junior Jordann Smak (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) each had shots on goal in the second period, but Muhlenberg goalie Michele Toher made a pair of stops.

Toher finished with three saves while sophomore Allie Rivera (Wading River, N.Y./Shoreham Wading River) also stopped three shots for Gettysburg.

In an evenly-played match, both teams took 11 shots. The Bullets held a 5-1 advantage in corners.
