GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Senior goalie
Christina Anderson (Dunkirk, Md./The Calverton School) made five saves en route to her third shutout of the season and 18th-ranked Gettysburg upset No. 14 Christopher Newport University 3-0 in non-conference field hockey action Saturday afternoon at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium.
With the victory, the Bullets started the season 4-0 for the second year in a row.

Katie Savage (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) scored the only goal Gettysburg would need when she redirected a shot from junior
Alyssa Heimbach (Palm, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) with 26:24 left in the opening half. It was the second game-winning goal of Savage's short career as a Bullet.
Sophomore
Sarah Cole (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) doubled Gettysburg's lead when she rebounded in a missed shot from senior
Lexie Hearn (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) with 10:07 left on the first-half clock, giving the Bullets a 2-0 advantage at the break.
The Captains (2-2) rattled off the first nine shots of the second half, and Gettysburg did not manage a shot until junior
Nicole Meredyth (South Burlington, Vt./South Burlington) converted her first goal of the season with 3:33 to go. Hearn got the play started when she took a hit from eight yards out, slipping it behind the goalie, before Meredyth tipped it in just before the ball rolled over the goal line.
Christopher Newport outshot Gettysburg 15-12 and held an 8-7 edge in corners. Senior Emma Stout made seven saves for the Captains.
Gettysburg continues its season on Tuesday, when it visit Catholic University at 4:30 p.m. in another non-conference affair.
