GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Senior Sarah Yeager (Westport, Conn./Staples) and sophomore Casey Attanasio (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) each scored to lead Gettysburg past York (Pa.) College 2-0 in non-conference women's soccer action Thursday night at Clark Field.

In each of their previous two meetings, Gettysburg (8-5) and York (5-9-1) needed an extra period to put a tally on the scoreboard. The Spartans scored in the 95th minute in a 1-0 decision in 2008, while the Bullets put in the winner in the 98th minute last fall.

The crowd didn't have to wait that long for the opening goal as junior Lauren Johnson (Morristown, N.J./Morristown-Beard) logged her ninth career assist off a corner kick, finding Yeager near the right post at 7:40.

The Bullets didn't manage another shot on goal for the remainder of the half, but the defense held its own, not allowing a Spartan shot until late in the period.

Gettysburg added an insurance goal early in the second period. Freshman Rachel West (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) dribbled the ball up the right side and tip-toed down the baseline before dishing the ball past the keeper to Attanasio all alone on the left side at 54:13.

York forced the action late in the contest with three corner kicks and three shots. Following a corner kick in the 83rd minute, the Spartans kicked the ball towards the goal, but sophomore back Ali Jones (Pittstown, N.J./North Hunterdon) cleared the ball away from the goal line to prevent the score.

Gettysburg finished with a 14-5 advantage in shots, while York led in corner kicks 5-4.

Junior goalie Allie Rivera (Wading River, N.Y./Shoreham Wading River) didn't need to make a save en route to her fourth shutout of the fall.

Gettysburg returns to Centennial Conference play this weekend with a road trip to Washington College on Saturday, Oct. 16, at 3 p.m.
