Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Sophomores Lindsey Lyons (Hatfield, Pa./Pennridge) and Casey Attanasio (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) each scored in the second half to lift Gettysburg to its 10th victory of the season 2-0 against visiting McDaniel College at Clark Field Tuesday night.

Gettysburg (10-5, 5-2 CC), which reached the 10-win plateau for the first time since 2006, dominated possession of the ball against McDaniel (2-8-3, 1-6 CC), had more than a few chances to light the board in the first half, including the match's first shot attempt by senior Sarah Yeager (Westport, Conn./Staples) which found the waiting arms of Green Terror keeper Jan Woolley at 3:25. McDaniel nearly answered on its ensuing possession as Kelly Crawford broke away from the pack and charged the Bullets goal, but junior goalie Allie Rivera (Wading River, N.Y./Shoreham Wading River) jumped out and knocked the shot attempt away.

Later in the period, freshman Becca Kent (East Brunswick, N.J./East Brunswick) appeared to have an open lane to the goal until Woolley came sliding and got just enough of the ensuing shot to send it out-of-bounds. Freshman Rachel West (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) just missed scoring with time winding down, breaking down the right side of the box and putting a shot past Woolley towards the left post. Her aim was just off as the ball just missed the cage at the buzzer.

Gettysburg continued its attack to start the second half and it found pay-dirt in the 62nd minute. Driving to the goal from the right side, Lyons kicked a shot that Woolley was waiting to scoop up. The McDaniel goalie misjudged the ball, however, as it slid past her hands into the left corner of the goal at 61:58.

The Bullets defense stood its ground behind the one-goal lead and did not allow a shot in the final period of play. Attanasio added an insurance goal with just over two minutes to play, fielding a chip from West and booting a shot over Woolley's out-stretched hands.

Gettysburg out-shot the visitors 25-2 in the match and did not allow McDaniel to take a corner kick.

The Bullets continue the march to the postseason by taking on conference-leading Swarthmore College (7-4-2, 5-1 CC) at Swarthmore, Pa., on Saturday, Oct. 23, at 4:30 p.m.
