Unplayable field at Mary Washington leads to venue change

The Bullets will kick of 2010 at home next Thursday.

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College women's lacrosse team will begin its 2010 on the turf of Clark Field next Thursday, Feb. 25, as the recent weather on the East Coast has rendered the field at the University of Mary Washington unplayable.

Instead of travelling for the first month of the season, the Bullets will face the Eagles at Clark at 4 p.m. next Thursday. The original schedule did not have the Orange and Blue playing at home until March 23 against Middlebury College.

Expectations are high for Gettysburg, coming off its third national semifinal appearance in four seasons. The Bullets are ranked third in the national polls on the strength of 11 returning starters among 19 returning letterwinners. If the team manages another run in the postseason, it will end the year at the same venue where it began as Gettysburg is the host site of the NCAA Division III Tournament semifinals and championship on May 22-23.
