Gettysburg Drops Pair at Snowbird Tournament

Bullets fall to Mansfield, Mt. Aloysius on second day of competition

Megan Lott scored both Gettysburg runs Monday, including following her first career homer.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Gettysburg College softball team came up short on its second day of competition at the Snowbird Tournament. The Bullets dropped a close decision to Division II Mansfield University 2-1 before falling in five to Mt. Aloysius College 10-1.

Gettysburg (1-2) was unable to generate much in the way of offense in support of sophomore Lanie Parr's (Washington, D.C./Academy of the Holy Cross) first start on the mound as a Bullet. Parr, a transfer from Elizabethtown College, struck out five and only allowed six hits, but two of those knocks went beyond the fence.

Nicole Yost gave Mansfield an early lead with a solo shot in the first inning, but Gettysburg came back to tie it in the fourth when sophomore Catrina DelGais (Airmont, N.Y./Suffern) drew a bases-loaded walk. Yost homered in the bottom of the fifth for the final tally.

Freshman Joy Hallfors (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) and sophomore Adrienne Rahs (Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley) each went 2-for-4 for Gettysburg, while junior Megan Lott (Bellsville, Md./Pallotti) reached base three times via a hit, walk, and hit-by-pitch and scored a run.

The Bullets' second contest of the morning didn't' last long as Mt. Aloysius knocked starter Beth McCullough (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Homestead) out of the game early in the fourth inning. McCullough surrendered eight runs (seven earned) on five hits and four walks. Freshman Taylor Snyder (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank Regional) finished off the remainder of the game, surrendering two runs on three hits and two walks.

Lott provided the offense for Gettysburg with her first career home run.

Gettysburg resumes action on Tuesday, March 9, with Eastern Nazarene College and Penn State Harrisburg at 9 and 10:30 a.m., respectively.
