Box Score

LANCASTER, Pa. – Sophomore defender Suzy Englot (Fayetteville, N.Y./Manlius Pebble Hill) recorded her first collegiate goal and dished out an assist to lead Gettysburg to a 3-0 victory at Franklin & Marshall College in a Centennial Conference women's soccer showdown Tuesday night.

Gettysburg (6-3, 2-1 CC) notched its third shutout in its last four matches and its second against a conference opponent. The Bullets out-shot Franklin & Marshall (4-3, 1-2 CC) 13-10 with 10 attempts coming on goal.

Each squad booted shots at the cage in the opening minutes with F&M keeper Katie Golding stopping sophomore Mackenzie Cobb (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey) at 3:21 and Gettysburg goalie Allie Rivera (Wading River, N.Y./Shoreham Wading River) halting Carley Nicholson 58 seconds later.

Englot contributed to the first score of the match with her second assist on a corner kick this season. Her pass into the box found freshman Mallory Sheer (South Orange, N.J./Columbia) who knocked it in for her first collegiate goal at 20:16.

Englot went solo for an insurance goal and the first of her career to start the final period, dribbling through the defense and beating the keeper in the 63rd minute. Junior Sam Hellerman (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) turned in the final tally with a 30-yard blast in the 75th minute for her fourth goal of the season.

Rivera finished with three saves for the Bullets, while Cobb, Englot, and freshman Tobi Goss (Sandy Spring, Md./Sandy Spring Friends School) each fired off two shots.

Gettysburg hosts Ursinus College this Saturday, Oct. 2, as part of Homecoming Weekend. The Bullets and Bears square off under the lights at Clark Field at 7 p.m.
