Box Score

DALLAS, Pa. – Junior Kyle DeBlois (Cranbury, N.J./Princeton) scored in the 67th minute against Misericordia University to lift the Gettysburg College men's soccer team to a 1-0 decision and its first win of the 2010 campaign.

Gettysburg (1-2) and Misericordia (1-2) played to a standstill through 66 minutes of play as the goalies established themselves in their respective cages. Sophomore keeper Jamie Hahn (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) and the Cougars' Mason Astaneh each made two saves in the first period to maintain the shutout.

At the start of the second period, the hosts went on the offensive with five of their 11 shots in the contest coming in the first 15:54. Three were wide of the mark with the remaining two smothered by Hahn.

Gettysburg's first shot on goal of the final period proved to be the difference as sophomore Andrew McLane (Newtown, Pa./St. Joe's Prep) sent a cross from the right side to DeBlois for the latter's first score of the year at 66:47. The goal proved to be DeBlois' seventh career game-winning tally.

The Bullets defense stepped up its effort over the final 20 minutes, allowing just two shots at the goal with Hahn notching his fifth and final save at the start of the 75th minute.

Both teams managed 11 shots, but the visitors led in corner kicks 7-2.

Gettysburg returns to the pitch this Saturday, Sept. 11, with a non-conference road affair at Stevenson University beginning at 1 p.m.
