Hayward Sawers scored two goals apiece while sophomore
Liz Baron posted one goal and two assists as the Gettysburg College field hockey team earned its first shutout of the season, blanking Bryn Mawr College 8-0 in a Centennial Conference match-up Saturday afternoon at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium.
Gettysburg (5-7, 3-3 CC), which outshot Bryn Mawr 30-8, scored four goals in each half. Baron scored first for the Bullets before Sawers posted back-to-back tallies. Freshman
Kristen Olenick capped the first-half scoring with her first collegiate goal.
In the second half, sophomore
Ashleigh Guise struck first before Cole scored twice over a two-minute span. Junior
Kelly Madden set the final score with 11:11 left to play.
Junior
Megan Feeg and sophomore
Alexis Bralow combined for the clean sheet, with Feeg making three first-half saves and Bralow stopping one shot in the second stanza.
Faith Westdorp made 11 saves for the Owls (1-11, 0-6 CC).
Gettysburg continues its season on Tuesday, when it visits McDaniel College at 4 p.m. in another Centennial Conference affair.
