Box Score
GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Sophomore
Becca Kent scored just 34 seconds into the match and the Gettysburg College defense made it stick in a 1-0 victory over visiting Bryn Mawr College in Centennial Conference women's soccer action Saturday afternoon.
Gettysburg (8-5, 5-1 CC) maintained its grip on second place in the conference standings with just four contests left on the regular-season schedule. It didn't take long for the Bullets to jump in front of Bryn Mawr (5-7-1, 0-6-1 CC) as sophomore
Tobi Goss found a seam in the Owls' defense and passed it into the box to Kent for her fourth goal of the fall.
The Bullets had a fair share of opportunities to score, out-shooting the visitors 27-1 in the contest, but were unable to find the back of the net again. Bryn Mawr goalie Rebecca Joseph made seven saves in the contest, including knocking away a blast by freshman
Molly Phillips in the 62nd minute.
Not long after Joseph's final save, the Bryn Mawr keeper collided with a Gettysburg attacker in front of the goal. Joseph was injured on the play and taken to the Gettysburg hospital in an ambulance, but her replacement, Valentina Viertel, kept the team in the contest by making a pair of saves on shots by Phillips.
Gettysburg senior goalie
Allie Rivera did not see a shot on goal en route to her fourth shutout of the fall. Junior
Casey Attanasio led the Bullets with six shots, while Phillips posted five attempts.
Gettysburg returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 19, with a road trip to McDaniel College. The match is set for a 4 p.m. start.
