GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Freshman Molly Phillips scored in the 82nd to lift the Gettysburg College women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over visiting Muhlenberg College in Centennial Conference action at Clark Field Saturday evening.

With the victory, Gettysburg (10-5, 7-1 CC) remained one match behind Johns Hopkins University (15-0, 8-0 CC) for first place in the conference standings.

Gettysburg dominated possession of the ball, out-shooting Muhlenberg (6-9-2, 3-5-1 CC) 24-7 for the match. Michele Toher kept the hosts off the board in the first half, making four saves including a diving stop to her right on a shot by senior Sara Montague in the 29th minute.

Sophomore Rachel West knocked a header on goal early in the final period, but Toher notched her only save in the half.

The Bullets continued to pelt the Muhlenberg goal with nine more shots in the second stanza, but none found the mark until Phillips struck home. Gettysburg sent a corner kick into the box with the ball finding its way to the far right post. Phillips' first attempt was stopped by a defender, but the ball bounced right back to the first-year and she put into the bottom right corner.

West accounted for seven shots and junior Casey Attanasio managed four.

Senior goalie Allie Rivera posted a save in each period to pick up her fifth shutout of the campaign.

Gettysburg returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 26, with a road trip to Franklin & Marshall College. Match time is set for 4:30 p.m.
