Bullets to Visit Johns Hopkins With Playoff Hopes on the Line

Molly Burton and the Bullets are one of six teams competing for the final three Centennial Conference playoff spots.

Box Score

LANCASTER, Pa. – Fighting for a spot in the Centennial Conference playoffs, the Gettysburg College field hockey team was unable to gain any ground Wednesday night, falling to seventh-ranked Franklin & Marshall College 5-0.

The Diplomats (14-2, 9-0 CC), who clinched the regular season title and home field in the conference tournament, outshot the Bullets 15-8 and held a 6-5 edge in penalty corners.

Gettysburg (7-8, 5-4 CC) now finds itself in a logjam in the middle of the conference standings. The Bullets are in a four-way tie for fourth place, and six teams are competing for the last three playoff spots. The top five teams make the Centennial Conference tournament.

Becky Willert gave F&M all the scoring it would need when she scored a pair of first-half goals, upping her conference-leading total to 25. In the second half, Kristen Zublin scored a pair of goals sandwiched around a Steph McDonald tally.

Junior Megan Feeg played the opening 55:08 and made four saves for the Bullets while allowing three goals. Sophomore Alexis Bralow made one save while yielding the final two goals.

Senior defender Megan Bernstein made a defensive save to extend her career school record to 16.

The Bullets close the regular season on Saturday, when they visit Johns Hopkins at 5 p.m.
