Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall College scored in the 98th minute to pick up a 1-0 victory over Gettysburg College on Wednesday night at Clark Field and eliminate the Bullets from postseason contention.

Gettysburg (6-8-1, 3-4-1 CC) was handed its fifth-straight loss and dropped out of the chase for the five Centennial Conference playoffs spots. The Bullets close the regular season with a road trip to McDaniel College (4-10-2, 1-7 CC) on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 3:30 p.m.

Franklin & Marshall (10-4-2, 5-3 CC) tested its range often in the match, firing long crosses and shots into the box early on. Those attempts were easily turned away by sophomore Connor Darrell as part of a six-save performance.

The Diplomats narrowly missed the contest's first goal in the 25th minute when a cross was played into the box and Max Watson aimed a shot into the lower left corner, but a Bullet defender was right there to send the ball away.

Gettysburg's best scoring opportunity came in the 30th minute when the team was awarded a free kick just outside the top of the box. Sophomore Tyler Shaffer blasted a shot toward the top of the goal, but TJ White was able to punch the ball over the crossbar.

Mike Irving took a stab at the goal for the visitors with a curving left-to-right shot from just outside the right corner of the box in the 76th minute. However, Darrell was there to make the stop.

Late in the first overtime, Franklin & Marshall's David Rosenfeld blasted a long cross out of the midfield into the box. Sam Lane was there for the touch, heading the ball up and over Darrell for the game-winner at 97:10.

Shots were 20-7 in favor of F&M, while corners also favored the visitors 7-2.
