Box Score

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Gettysburg College women's soccer team picked up its sixth consecutive victory by holding Franklin & Marshall College to just four shots in a 1-0 victory at Sponaugle-Williamson Field Wednesday night.

Gettysburg (11-5, 8-1 CC) won 1-0 for the fourth time in the last five matches and set up an epic regular-season finale with fourth-ranked Johns Hopkins University (16-0, 9-0 CC) on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 7:30 p.m. The winner will earn the top seed and right to host the 2011 Centennial Conference Tournament.

The Bullets wasted little time in jumping ahead as junior Lindsey Lyons picked up her first goal of the season in the third minute. Freshman Meg Castranova set the stage with her third assist on a corner kick this fall.

Franklin & Marshall (7-6-1, 5-4 CC) offered no challenge to Gettysburg goalie Allie Rivera the rest of the way. The Diplomats posted two shots in each half, none of which were on target, as Rivera notched her 20th career shutout and sixth of the fall.

The Bullets came close to getting on the board again just before the end of the match, but junior Casey Attanasio's tap from the left side of the box ricocheted off the cross bar and away from the goal in the final minute.

Gettysburg finished with an 11-4 advantage in shots and took all four corner kicks in the contest. Sophomore Rachel West led Gettysburg with four shot attempts.
