EWING, N.J. – Senior
Allie Rivera made a career-high 12 saves but it wasn't enough to lift the Gettysburg College women's soccer team to an upset at The College of New Jersey as the 13th-ranked Lions struck twice in the second half to secure a 2-0 win Wednesday night.
Gettysburg (5-5) dropped its third consecutive contest despite a valiant effort by Rivera in goal. The senior topped her previous personal best for saves by three and kept TCN (8-1) off the board in the first half with five stops.
The Lions finally hit home early in the final stanza on their 14th shot of the match. Brenna Rubino broke the scoreless contest with an unassisted tally in the 54th minute. Albright added an insurance goal by Brittany McGinley in the 71st minute.
The Bullets were outshot 25-1 in the contest with the visitor's lone attempt coming via a header by sophomore
Rachel West in the 79th minute.
Gettysburg will look to get back on track at home this weekend with a Centennial Conference match up with Swarthmore College on Sunday, Oct. 9, at 1 p.m.
