BALTIMORE – The Gettysburg College women's soccer team turned in a valiant effort in the Centennial Conference Tournament championship, but fourth-ranked Johns Hopkins University used its entire vaunted arsenal to finish the Bullets 2-0 at Homewood Field Sunday afternoon.

Johns Hopkins (19-0) maintained its quest for a perfect season and captured the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Gettysburg (12-7) will have to wait until Monday to find out it if it made the 64-team field as an at-large selection. The Bullets were ranked seventh in the Mid-Atlantic Region last week.

Gettysburg held the hosts in check for the first half, allowing just five shots with only one on goal. Senior Allie Rivera caught Sydney Teng's attempt at the top of the box in the 40th minute.

All-time leading scorer Erica Suter helped set the stage for the match's first score by drawing a foul just outside the 18. Jessica Hnatiuk took full advantage of the position, curving a shot off her left foot into the right corner of the cage in the 49th minute.

Johns Hopkins kept Gettysburg off the scoreboard after the opening goal as Meredith Maguire corralled a pair of attempts by sophomore Rachel West in the 52nd and 54th minutes.

The hosts added insurance in the 59th minute as Christina Convey controlled a pass sent into the box by Suter and placed a shot into the lower left corner for the 2-0 lead.

Gettysburg had another opportunity following a corner kick in the 72nd minute, but junior Lindsey Lyons had her shot in the box knocked away by a defender.

Maguire added a late save on an attempt from the right side by junior Casey Attanasio to preserve the team's 14th shutout in 19 matches this season.

Johns Hopkins finished with a 10-8 lead in shots and a 6-2 edge in corner kicks. The 10 shot attempts were a season low for the Blue Jays.
