SALISBURY, Md. - A pair of teams already well into their seasons took advantage of the Gettysburg College softball team's first excursion outdoors as the Bullets dropped two games on the opening day of the Salisbury University Invitational on Friday.

Virginia Wesleyan (8-1) picked up its eighth win in nine games by downing Gettysburg (0-2) 10-1 in five innings to start the day. The Bullets didn't fair any better against No. 22 Christopher Newport (10-4) as the Captains bounced back from an extra-inning loss to the hosts for a 10-0 win.

A full tournament recap will be available following the conclusion of Saturday's games. Gettysburg faces Wilkes University and Lynchburg College at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
