Box Score

ORLANDO, Fla. – Hamilton College scored each of the first five goals to push past Gettysburg College 13-9 in a battle of top-five women's lacrosse teams at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on Wednesday.

In a battle of 2010 national semifinalists, No. 2 Hamilton (1-0), last season's national runner-up, jumped all over No. 5 Gettysburg (3-1) in the early going, netting each of the first five goals of the game before senior Marnie Commins (Fairfax Station, Va./Robinson) tossed in the Bullets' first tally at 17:48 in the first half. The Continentals controlled the tempo by winning eight of 11 draw controls in the first period and went into the break with an 8-2 lead.

Gettysburg out-scored Hamilton 7-5 in the final period, but could pull no closer than three goals. Freshman Loren Pruitt's (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) fourth goal of the contest cut the margin to 12-9 with 3:25 left before the Continentals polished off the win with the game's finally tally at the two-minute mark.

Pruitt finished with a season-high four goals to lead Gettysburg. Commins and sophomore Lindsey Robinson (Potomac, Md./Holton-Arms) each added two goals and two assists, while junior Hannah Church (Ellicott City, Md./Mount de Sales) posted one goal and one helper.

Junior Maddie Coleman (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) started in goal for Gettysburg and made a pair of saves in the first half. Senior Laura McIntyre (Glenmoore, Pa./Coatesville) entered the game at halftime and finished with four stops.

Gettysburg returns from break this weekend for its first Centennial Conference game. The Bullets face Haverford College at home on Saturday, March 19, at 1 p.m.
