No. 6 Gettysburg Thumps Bryn Mawr, 22-1

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The sixth-ranked Gettysburg College women's lacrosse team put a stamp on the end of the regular season with a 22-1 victory over Bryn Mawr College on Saturday.

Nine Bullets found the back of the net led by freshman Bailey Beardsley with a season-high five. Sophomore Hayward Sawers posted a career-high seven points on four goals and three assists, while junior Hannah Church and sophomore Haley Stauch each tallied three goals.

Bryn Mawr (5-9, 0-9 CC) came out with the game's first shot, but senior Laura McIntyre made one of her three saves on the day. Gettysburg (13-3, 8-1 CC) turned the defensive stop into offense as Church found sophomore Lindsay Menton for the game's first tally at 27:07.

Freshman Grace Ciolfi and senior Marnie Commins went for back-to-back goals just 21 seconds apart, and following a goal by Church at 25:01, Menton and freshman Kelsey Markiewicz went back-to-back just 20 seconds apart. Gettysburg went on to score each of the game's first 14 goals before the Owls struck with 4:15 in the first half.

Holding a 17-1 lead at the break, Gettysburg took a conservative approach for the second half and only took five shots. The Bullets scored on every one of those attempts with Sawers throwing in her fourth goal with 12:09 to play.

Ciolfi capped the day with two goals and three assists and Menton tallied two goals. Commins and freshman Megan Quigg each posted one goal and one assist. Senior Becky Lutz paced the defense with four caused turnovers and three ground balls.

Gettysburg advances to the Centennial Conference Tournament semifinals hosted by top seed Franklin & Marshall College on April 30-May 1. The second-seeded Bullets will face third seed Ursinus College at a time to be announced on Saturday.
