Field Hockey Falls at No. 11 Catholic

Cardinals Score Four Goals in Each Half

WASHINGTON – The Gettysburg College field hockey team suffered its first loss of the season on Tuesday, dropping an 8-0 decision at 11th-ranked Catholic University in a non-conference affair.

The undefeated Cardinals (4-0) scored four goals in each half. Tracey Scanlon led the hosts with three goals.

Junior Megan Feeg and sophomore Alexis Bralow split the time in goal for Gettysburg (2-1). Facing a 20-shot barrage, Feeg made 10 saves in the opening 35 minutes. Bralow played the second half and made a season-best seven stops.

Catholic finished with a 33-16 shot advantage while Gettysburg held a 15-10 edge in corners.

The Cardinals also had two goalies split halves, with Megan Comunale making three saves in the first period and Alison Dillard turning aside five shots in the second stanza.

The Bullets play their Centennial Conference opener on Saturday, when they visit third-ranked Ursinus College at noon.
