GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Liz Baron scored two of Gettysburg's first three goals and the Bullets used a fast start to knock off Dickinson College 5-2 in Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey action at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium Wednesday afternoon.

Gettysburg (3-2, 1-1 CC) scored the first five goals of the game while earning the team's first conference victory of the season. The Bullets led the Red Devils (2-4, 0-2 CC) 4-0 at halftime and 5-0 early in the second half.

Katie Mersky posted one goal and one assist to lead Dickinson, which outshot the Bullets 14-12.

Junior Megan Feeg and sophomore Alexis Bralow each played a half in goal for the Bullets, and both made four saves. Feeg played the opening 35 minutes.

Baron put the Bullets on the board 12:18 into the contest, taking a corner pass from junior Hayward Sawers and blasting in a shot from the top of the circle for her first goal of the season. Junior Emily Kleinburd followed up with her first tally of the year, scooping up a loose ball following a blocked shot before depositing a shot from the left side to make it 2-0 with 15:31 to go in the half.

Two and a half minutes later Baron struck again. From the left elbow, she took a pass from sophomore Erica Barbuto and drained it for her first collegiate multi-goal game. Senior Sarah Cole capped the first-half scoring when she broke free for a 2-on-1 fast break. She fired a shot from 10 yards out that stayed inside the left post for her third tally of the year with 6:40 on the clock.

Sophomore Kelly Spieker recorded Gettysburg's final goal when she converted on a scramble with 24:29 left in the game. Mersky scored off a rebound just over a minute later to break up the shutout for Dickinson before Lauren Wyman set the final score with 3:08 left, tipping in a shot from Mersky from the right post.

Katy Schlechtweg finished with two saves for the Red Devils.

Gettysburg returns home on Saturday, when it hosts Washington College at 4:30 p.m. in another Centennial Conference tilt.
