GETTYSBURG, Pa. – With heavy rainfall pounding the ground outside, the Gettysburg College volleyball team did some heavy hitting of its own inside Bream Gym on its way to a 3-0 non-conference decision against Susquehanna University Wednesday night.
In all three sets, the early going was tight between the two squads. Gettysburg (3-2) broke a 7-7 tie with five-straight points en route to a 25-15 decision in the opening frame. Virginia Hogan provided the final touch with an ace in a 25-23 win.
Gettysburg never trailed in the finale, jumping out to an 8-3 lead and finishing with a 25-20 decision.
Hogan paced Gettysburg with nine kills, adding a pair of aces and five digs. Sophomore
Sarah Gorski posted eight kills and three block assists. Sophomore
Lizzy Kuhn dished out 26 assists.

Rebecca Rubenstein led the defensive effort with 14 digs.
Gettysburg resumes action this Friday and Saturday (Sept. 9-10) with the Washington & Lee University Invitational in Lexington, Va. The Bullets are scheduled to play four matches, beginning on Friday against Elizabethtown College at 5:30 p.m.
