Bullets Earn 4-1 Win over Owls

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Senior Emily Kleinburd recorded one goal and one assist and the Gettysburg College field hockey team captured a 4-1 victory at Bryn Mawr College in a Centennial Conference match-up Saturday afternoon.

The Bullet (9-3, 4-2 CC) never trailed after junior Erica Barbuto scored an unassisted tally – her third goal of the season – 13:28 into the contest. The Owls (5-8, 0-7 CC) pulled even with 6:44 left in the opening half, but junior Liz Baron scored off a Kleinburd assist for her team-leading 10th goal of the year with 5:01 to go and put the Orange & Blue on top 2-1 at the intermission.

Kleinburd made it a 3-1 game with 22:37 left when she accepted a pass from senior Kelly Madden and punched in her first goal of the season. Senior Ally Duggan provided the finishing touches, scoring her third goal of the season with 19:45 to go. Her strike was set up during a corner by senior Hayward Sawers, who distributed her team-best seventh assist of the year.

Senior Megan Feeg needed to make only two saves to earn her ninth win of the season and the 25th of her career, which places her fifth in school history. Alex Weinfeld stopped 13 shots for Bryn Mawr.

Gettysburg outshot the Owls 30-7 and held a 15-3 advantage in corners.

The Bullets continue their season on Tuesday, when they host McDaniel College at 4 p.m. in another Centennial Conference game.
