ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Gettysburg College women's volleyball team moved closer to clinching a berth in the Centennial Conference playoffs with a 3-0 victory at Muhlenberg College on Saturday. The Bullets were upended in their second match of the day by York (Pa.) College 3-2.
Gettysburg (15-11, 6-2 CC) remained tied for third place in the conference standings with only two contests left in the regular season. The Bullets wrapped up the three-set win over Muhlenberg (16-10, 3-6 CC) with scores of 25-22, 25-20, and 25-13.
Sophomore
Cydney Bracken led the attack with a match-high 13 kills and added six digs and two blocks. Junior
Sarah Gorski posted seven kills and senior
Katie Wilson logged nine digs and a pair of service aces.
The Bullets came up short of earning two victories on the afternoon as York rebounded from an 0-2 deficit to win by scores of 24-26, 12-25, 25-17, 25-20, and 15-13.
Bracken once again led the way with a career-high tying 19 kills. Junior
Courtney Cyr added nine kills and Gorski posted six.
Wilson led the defensive effort against the Spartans with 28 digs. Junior
Kelly Milione put up 19 digs and freshman
Alesha Miller recorded 17 digs.
Gettysburg returns to action with a home match against Franklin & Marshall College inside Bream Gym on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m.
