SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Senior
Hayward Sawers notched one goal and one assist, but host Swarthmore College scored 57 seconds into overtime as the Garnet defeated the Bullets 3-2 in a Centennial Conference field hockey game Saturday afternoon.
It was the second straight OT setback for Gettysburg (7-3, 3-2 CC), which dropped a 2-1 decision to Haverford College, ranked 10th at the time, last Saturday.
Erin Gluck scored all three goals for Swarthmore (8-5, 3-3 CC), which never trailed.

Megan Feeg made eight saves for the Bullets, as did Gabriella Capone for Swarthmore.
Gluck scored her first goal with 21:31 left in the first half before junior
Kelly Spieker converted an assist from Sawers with 9:43 on the first-half clock to make it 1-1 at the half.
The Garnet assumed a 2-1 lead when Gluck scored off a rebound with 26:09 remaining. But Sawers answered again, this time with an unassisted tally to make it 2-2 with 18:11 showing.
The goalies came up big over the remainder of regulation, as Feeg and Capone each made three saves over the final 12 minutes, including a stop by Capone on a shot from junior
Liz Baron with 49 seconds left.
Gluck's final goal came on the first shot of overtime.
The Garnet finished with a 15-14 edge in shots while the Bullets held an 8-6 advantage in corners.
Gettysburg picks up its schedule on Wednesday, when it visits Stevenson University at 4 p.m. in its final non-conference game of the season.
