ARLINGTON, Va. – Junior
Alyssa Isler poured in a career-high 20 points to lead the Gettysburg College women's basketball team past Bridgewater College 64-49 in the consolation game of the Marymount University Tip-Off Tournament.
Gettysburg (1-1) shot 51.1 percent (24-of-47) from the field in the game. Isler finished 6-of-12 from the field and 6-of-8 from the free throw line in topping her previous personal best scoring total by two for Gettysburg (1-1). She was also named to the All-Tournament Team. Junior
Caroline Murphy added a dozen points and six rebounds, while freshman
Jessica Porter turned in nine points and four boards.
Molly Shelley led Bridgewater (0-2), which was held to just 27.3 percent (15-of-55) shooting from the field, with a dozen points, while Shannan Thorne grabbed 14 rebounds.
Gettysburg would establish its lead permanently with a lay-up by Porter to make it 5-4 at 15:20 in the first half. Murphy would give the Bullets a seven-point advantage (14-7) with a jumper just before the midway point of the opening half.
Gettysburg would grab a double-figure lead as Isler knocked down a pair of free throws to make it 29-18 with three minutes left before the end of the half. After a Bridgewater bucket, Isler hit a three-pointer to push the advantage to 12 (32-20) at 2:28. The Bullets would hold that margin with a 36-24 lead at the break.
The Eagles would pull within six early in the second stanza, but a 9-2 run sparked by an Isler jumper gave the Bullets a 47-34 lead with 11:03 to play. Bridgewater would get no closer than nine points the rest of the way with the Bullets leading by as many as 21 in the final minutes.

Jenna Swope and
Danielle Bernini each finished with six points and five rebounds for Gettysburg.
Gettysburg returns to action with its first Centennial Conference game of the season at Muhlenberg College on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 6 p.m.
